GPS tracking for car rental fleets: the Fleety integration

Fleety integrates GPS tracking with the daily management of a car rental agency. Teams can view vehicle location and trip history without leaving their fleet records, while reservations, returns, maintenance, customers, and payments remain in the same system. Each tracked car still needs a compatible GPS device.

What GPS integration adds to Fleety

GPS tracking answers a different question from the booking calendar: where is the car, and what trip did it make? Fleety brings that information beside rental operations so the team does not have to switch between management software and a separate GPS platform.

Location does not replace operational status. A car may be physically at the branch but still blocked for inspection, cleaning, or maintenance. Fleety lets the team read location and commercial availability together.

GPS location and availability are complementary

Example: a car appears outside the branch at 9 am, but it is booked at 11 am and still needs inspection. Its location is correct, yet it cannot be offered for another rental. A vehicle still on the road may also be due back at a known time and need preparation before its next handover.

  • The map shows where the vehicle is.
  • The calendar shows when it can be rented.
  • Maintenance blocks explain why it is unavailable.
  • Trip history helps review recorded journeys.

How a rental agency uses GPS each day

At the start of the day, the team can review departures, expected returns, and overdue vehicles, then check the latest available position when it helps prepare an action. After a return, staff update the vehicle status, complete the required inspection, and confirm availability before the next rental.

  • Prepare for an expected return with timestamped location information.
  • Separate a rental delay from an operational status that was not updated.
  • Keep reservations, customers, payments, and fleet tracking in one workspace.

GPS hardware, installation, and subscription

Every tracked vehicle needs a compatible GPS device that is installed correctly. Hardware and installation are billed separately from the Fleety subscription because they depend on the vehicle and selected device.

Before rollout, confirm the device model, connectivity quality, location frequency, who performs the installation, and how failed hardware will be replaced.

Access, privacy, and responsibility

Limit location data to people who need it for their work. Define who can view the map and trip history, how long the information is retained, and how the agency informs affected people. Check the legal requirements that apply to your operation with a qualified professional before activation.

How much does Fleety with GPS cost?

GPS tracking is included in the annual Fleety subscription. The first 10 vehicles cost 70 TND per vehicle per year; each vehicle after the tenth adds 60 TND per year. GPS hardware, installation, and VAT remain separate.

For example, 10 vehicles cost 700 TND per year and 11 vehicles cost 760 TND per year. This progressive formula prevents a larger fleet from becoming artificially cheaper at the boundary.
